Inspired by the latest debate on Wall Street and on Capitol Hill with regards to CEO compensation, Marine Money has set out to provide a little more transparency to a historically “murky” and very private shipping industry by conducting its own survey and study on CEO remuneration. But first, a little background…

On January 31, 2007 President Bush delivered his view on the state of the economy in front of a Wall Street crowd under the beautiful cupola in New York’s historic Federal Hall. We won’t get into the details of the speech, however it is worth highlighting the discreet mention with regards to executive pay… the President seems to think CEOs these days are getting paid way too much. As you could imagine, right after bonus season, the President’s comments with regard to compensation weren’t exactly well received by the audience.
