Marine Money Singapore Conference Draws Record Ship Finance Crowd for Asia

Marine Money along with its official partners Fortis Bank and the Pareto group as well as its corporate sponsors played host for two days in Singapore to an audience in excess of 450 shipping and ship finance professionals. The event, which was officially part of Singapore’s weeklong celebration of the entire shipping industry, reflected the growing significance of the region and Singapore specifically in the future of ship finance.

The mood appeared as upbeat as it was one year before, with many speakers, panelists and moderators suggesting that the shipping market doomsday scenarios are still quite off-based, thanks to the continual strong demand for commodities from developing nations particularly China and India. Discussions on the current sub-prime mortgage crisis and the Singapore shipping trusts were the highlights of the two-day event and attracted significant analyst and media coverage.
